CNR ICCOM – history in brief
The Institute of Chemistry of OrganoMetallic Compounds (ICCOM) belongs to the Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of Materials (DSCTM) of the National Research Council (CNR) and was established in 2001 following the merging of the Institute for the Study of Stereochemistry and Energetics of Coordination Compounds (ISSECC) of Florence with three other CNR Centers in Florence, Pisa and Bari, with a core interest in synthesis, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. In 2011, the arrival of numerous researchers at the Pisa Secondary Site brought more skills in analytical chemistry and spectroscopic methods, materials and cultural heritage, theoretical and computational chemistry. ICCOM also has a Third Party Research Unit (URT) at the Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Trieste. Since 2006 ICCOM has been managing and coordinating the Electronic Microscopy Center (Ce.M.E.) of the CNR Research Area in Florence, a state-of-the-art service facility in the electron microscopy sector. ICCOM's mission is to contribute with innovative solutions to national and international research in the DSCTM Strategic Areas such as Green Chemistry, Chemistry and Energy, Advanced Materials, Chemistry for Life Sciences , Chemistry for Cultural Heritage, Computational Chemistry.
