Title: Hybrid Porous Materials for Eco-sustainable Catalytic Organic Processes.

ICCOM Principal Investigator: Claudio Evangelisti.

Project type: National.

Duration: 04/02/2025 – 03/02/2027.

Abstract: The project’s idea is to combine performance of ionic liquids (ILs), chiral synthons (CS) and non-noble metal nanoparticles (MNPs) in covalent organic frameworks (COFs) network, featured by pores engineered at nanoscale level, to obtain new catalytic systems with potential applications in the production of fine chemicals and in valorization of renewable biomass sources. Whenever beneficial, enabling technologies such as MW and US irradiation will be exploited to improve the efficiency of COF production as well as the nanoparticles deposition. Aside from developing new COF structures and optimizing their synthesis, HyPoCOF will address concerns like their stability, recyclability, either by recovery and isolation, or even better by employing them in continuous flow devices or as electrodes coating. The very ambitious general target is to fill the gap between chemical nanotechnology and catalysis, as well as efficiency of chemical processes and sustainability, proposing new heterogeneous catalysts appealing for academic research and fully exploitable at industrial level.
