Within the framework of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development (IYBSSD), the Italian National Commission for IUPAC is organizing an one-day hybrid conference focused on electrochemistry and mainly directed to students and civic society in Italy. Thanks to the lectures of our colleagues Proff. Arbizzani, Fabbrizzi and Bella, the occasion will be designed to drive the public in an ideal trip from the roots of electrochemistry, opened by the great discovery of the Italian scientist Alessandro Volta, to the present and future of this field of chemistry, crucial to address the energy transition and climate change mitigation. In a following round table,  the DSCTM director, Prof. Armelao, and the chair of the IUPAC Committee for Chemical Research Applied to World Needs, Prof. Kerton, will discuss with the speakers on the role of chemistry and, in particular electrochemistry, for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The event is made possible through the support of numerous national and international institutions. In the spirit of the IYBSSD, the event will be suitable for young people and non-specialist audience.

The event will be organized in presence in Como, birthplace of Alessandro Volta, on 24th October 2022, but it will also be possible to attend it online.

Attendance is free but registration is requested by October 21st on the website www.iupac.cnr.it.
