Global Conversation on Sustainability (GCS) – Pisa, 25/09/2023
On the 25th September 2015, the 193 UN countries, including Italy, signed the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, containing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs. In 2022, the International Younger Chemists Network (IYCN) and IUPAC launched the Global Conversation on Sustainability (GCS) (https://www.gcs-day.org/), a global network of events self-organised by volunteers around the world with the aim of to make chemists to meet, reflect and discuss the actions undertaken and to be undertaken to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs and allow the construction of a better present and future, for humanity and the planet.
In Pisa, ICCOM researchers joined the GCS by meeting and discussing the sustainability aspects of their various current research, from analytical chemistry to macromolecules, from the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance of materials to theoretical chemistry and catalysis. A useful and stimulating moment to concretely look at fundamental objectives.
