ARIADNE
Title: Integrated measurement system for organic and hybrid photovoltaics
Principal Investigator at ICCOM: Gianna Reginato
Project type: National – Tuscany Region
Duration: 04/2018-03/2020
Abstract: The project aims at the realization of an automated measurement apparatus in the field of new generation photovoltaics. In particular, we intend to engineer and bring to market an “all-in-one” platform (ARIADNE) capable of carrying out the measurements and correlating the results of multiple tests on third-generation hybrid-based photovoltaic devices (DSC / PSC: Dye / Perovskite Solar Cells) and organic (OPV, Organic PhotoVoltaics). The first DSC-based photovoltaic modules and the recent efficiency records of perovskite technology caused a sharp increase in the funds allocated to R&D activities in this sector and, consequently, to the support instrumentation for testing and validating these technologies. The operating principles of hybrid / organic devices involve a substantial difference in the characterization techniques adopted for the evaluation of the efficiency, of the spectral response and of the transport / recombination processes of the electric charges with respect to conventional silicon-based technology. With ARIADNE we want to provide a completely automated solution that, by combining different types of tests in a single device, allows on the one hand to reduce costs and on the other to guarantee consistent results. In fact, the integration of functionality on a single hardware platform will have the considerable advantage of being able to correlate the results of different electro-optical analyses in a single measurement session.
