The Headquarters of the Institute are located inside the Florence CNR Research Area within the Science Park of Sesto Fiorentino. In January 2025, the main site of ICCOM hosts 56 staff units, including 47 researchers (of whom 10 fixed-term ones), 2 technologists, 2 administration personnel units, 5 technicians, together with 24 temporary contract holders (PhD students, Postdocs and Postgraduates) and associated personnel from Universities. The main research themes studied in Florence are Green Chemistry and sustainable processes (innovation, efficiency and selectivity), biomass valorisation, CO₂ capture and utilisation, chemistry for renewable energy (hydrogen and fuel cells technologies, innovative solar photovoltaics), chemistry and materials for health. The expertise include organic, inorganic and organometallic chemistry, computational chemistry, catalysis and materials science, especially related to nanotechnologies and their various applications.
