DURALYS
Title: DURAble, Scalable, and Recyclable Components and Cell Designs for Next Generation Alkaline Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis.
ICCOM Principal Investigator: Alessandro Lavacchi.
Project type: International.
Duration: 01/12/2024- 30/10/2026.
Abstract: DURALYS is an ambitious project aimed at developing the next generation of anion exchange membrane electrolyzers (AEMELs)—a technology that combines high performance with low cost and the use of abundant raw materials. To achieve this goal, DURALYS seeks to advance the entire AEMEL value chain, from the synthesis of novel electrocatalysts and membranes to the integration of components into a commercially usable AEMEL prototype. Materials and cell development are supported by a wide range of analytical methods and modeling, enabling both fundamental research on the materials involved and addressing the practical shortcomings of state-of-the-art technologies in terms of performance and durability.
