COLOURS and LUCE Projects Presented on TGR Leonardo

The results of the COLOURS project (Tuscany Region – POR FESR 2014–2020) and the LUCE project (MUR – PRIN 2022 Projects) were featured in a report by TGR Leonardo. Both projects, carried out in collaboration with the University of Pisa, the University of Naples Federico II, Scorpio srl, I&S srl, and Cicci Research srl, focus on the development of photovoltaic solar panels made from acrylic plastic, including recycled materials. These luminescent solar concentrators, colorful and transparent, are designed for urban integration in elements such as windows and building façades, offering a sustainable and innovative energy solution.

Research shows that the panels maintain high optical and electrical performance while achieving a reduction in CO₂ emissions of up to 75% compared to panels made from virgin materials.

The project makes a concrete contribution to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with a first real-world application already visible in a solar-powered canopy in Livorno, a prototype developed within the COLOURS project and scientifically coordinated by CNR-ICCOM.
