Luigi Lilio devised the Gregorian reform of the Calendar. After more than 16 centuries of attemps to legislate a reform of the Calendar, a plain was approved by Pope Gregory XIII in a bull on 24th February 1582. The reform was proposed by Luigi Lilio from Cirò.
