The Centre for Electron Microscopies (Ce.M.E.) is a service structure within the Florence CNR Research Area built in 2003 following the initiative of late Prof. Laura Morassi Bonzi, to whom the Centre is dedicated, thank to the sponsorship of Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze (ECRF). Since its foundation, Ce.M.E. has had an important role in consulting and service work for the academic area and private sector such as Small, Medium and Large enterprises and handicraft companies .
Ce.M.E. has 3 electron microscopes including 2 SEM and 1 TEM allowing for state-of-the-art materials and biological specimen characterisations. Moreover, Ce.M.E. has a chemical laboratory and instrumentation for optimal sample preparation.
The Centre personnel, apart from the measurement activities, is highly active in dissemination of the concept and practice of electron microscopy, in particular by organising:
- seminars, workshops and congresses;
- training in microscopy techniques;
- scientific dissemination and outreach.
