On March 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., the CNR Research Area in Pisa will host a scientific education initiative, aimed at high schools and the general public, dedicated to the Periodic Table of the Elements. This initiative marks the first Italian translation of the IUPAC Periodic Table of the Elements, published at the end of 2024 following intense work involving many stakeholders, including the CNR (National Research Council) with the Italian Commission of the CNR for IUPAC, the Italian Chemical Society, the Accademia della Crusca, the Swiss Chemical Society, the Department of Education and Culture of the Republic of San Marino, Federchimica, and the Federation of Scientific and Technical Associations (https://iupac.org/project/2024-009-2-200/).

During the event, some of the project’s authors, highly experienced chemists and linguists, will take us on a multidisciplinary journey through the extraordinary Periodic Table of the Elements, retracing its history, recounting its curiosities, and addressing its most current critical and sustainability issues.

Individual participation is free and does not require reservations.

Organizers: Silvia Borsacchi, Claudio Evangelisti, Emanuela Pitzalis.
