The Research Group at INEOS – Moscow (Russia)

 

The Moscow group participating in the AQUACHEM project is part of the Group of Metal Hydrides at A.N. Nesmeyanov Institute of Organoelement Compounds of Russian Academy of Science (INEOS RAS, http://www.ineos.ac.ru) leading Russian Institution in the field of organometallic chemistry.  The group consists of 9 permanent staff, 2 postgraduate and 3 undergraduate students, from which 6 people are involved in the project:

 

• Elena Shubina (Professor; team leader)
• Lina Epstein (Professor Emeritus)
• Natalia Belkova (Researcher)
• Oleg Filipov (Researcher)
• Evgenii Gutsul (Researcher)
• Pavel Revin (PhD student)

 

Short-term international visitors periodically visit the group on the basis of several collaborative linkages. 

 

Besides this MCRTN project the group is involved in the following additional research areas

• Variable temperature spectroscopic studies (IR, UV-vis, NMR) of intermolecular interactions of several types (e.g. hydrogen bonding, Lewis acid-base equilibria, complexation) involving transition metal and main group element hydrides

• Proton transfer to and from transition metal and main group element hydrides, catalysis relevant reactivity of hydrides;
• Chemical engineering of new functional materials based on dihydrogen bonded complexes of 13 group hydrides with mono- and polydentate acids

 

The above projects are carried out in collaboration with scientists in many other Countries (Italy, France, Spain, Russia, Georgia). Financial support of these projects is provided by the European Commission (INTAS), NATO, Russian Foundation for Basic Research and CNR/RAS.

The co-direction of a Ph.D. thesis has been established with the French partner.
